New test procedure:

The new Assessment of Self-reported Olfactory Functioning (ASOF) test procedure is now available for use.

The AOSF was developed to assess subjective complaints relating to olfactory function. It assesses three areas – assessment of subjective olfactory function (SRV), impairment of the perception of everyday odours (BWA) and odour-related quality of life (RLQ). The ASOF shows very good pschometric quality criteria and has been used in numerous studies. Test versions are available in various languages.

10 ASOF manuals and 10, 100 or 1,000 ASOF test protocols are available free of charge to all newsletter subscribers as an introductory offer.

VVT 3.0 screening:

Vienna Visuo-Constructional Test 3.0 screening shows similar psychometric quality criteria to the Mini-Mental State Examination and Clock Drawing Test in Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s disease leads to cognitive impairment. Widely used methods for assessing cognition are the clock test and the Mini-Mental State Examination; another option is the Vienna Visuo-Constructional Test 3.0 Screening. Neuropsychological and demographic data from 45 healthy controls and 64 Parkinson’s patients (N = 109) were analysed. The validity of each test was compared using Receiver Operator Characteristic (ROC) curves and logistic regression analyses. ROC analyses showed an AUC of 0.68 for the VVT-3.0 of 0.74 for the MMSE and 0.72 for the CDT as predictors. The VVT-3.0 shows a comparable validity to the established measurement instruments MMSE and CDT and is easy to use in the clinical setting.
